The A.B.V. Govt Degree College Jangaon was established in 1975 as an unaided private Degree college offering Arts and Commerce by ABV Degree College Society to cater to the needs of higher education to economically and socially disadvantaged sub-rural people of Jangoan situated in the district of Warangal. The College is permanently affiliated to Kakatiya University, Warangal and is recognized under 2(f) and 12 (B) by U.G.C since 5.07.1978. The college started receiving grant-in-aid from state government in 1981. Later degree program in science was introduced in 1984 and science faculty came under grant-in-aid category in 1991. The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has taken over the college in 2003 in public interest and Post Graduate classes in commerce were introduced in 2005. The college is also running a distance education study center affiliated to Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad to impart Higher Education in Arts and Commerce faculties.

The college campus is spread over an area of 3.03 acres, out of which 2.37 acres of land was donated by the A.B.V.High School. The college building is having 26 spacious lecture Halls, spacious laboratories and a seminar hall. The college is also having a computer center with two computer labs with 60 computers in LAN. The medium of instruction is Telugu at U.G. level but the medium is English if the student offers self-financing courses such as Computer Science, Industrial Microbiology or B.Com. Computer Application. The medium of instruction is exclusively English at P.G. level.
The number of students in the degree classes is 2044 including 1269 males and 775 females and in P.G. Classes the number is 60 which includes 33 male and 27 females. The college observes 220 Working days and 188 Teaching days. The college follows annual system of examination at UG level while at PG level the examination is on semester basis. There are no students in U.G or P.G from other states or overseas.

The drop out rate is meager. The library is having 20,225 books out of which 12647 are textbooks and 7404 are reference books. The library subscribes 12 Indian Journals. The carpet area of the Central library is 2678 sq.ft. with 100 seating capacity. The library has facilities of photocopying and computer printing. The Library is equipped with power back up. The Library is partially computerized with SOUL soft ware. The college library works from 8:30AM to 5 P.M on all working days and on holidays it opens from 10.A.M to 1P.M.

The college has 16 stations multi gym with recent equipment. The college is not having girls or boys hostels. The college has a grievance-redressal cell. The institution has a strong NSS wing with four units which include one girls unit and one NCC unit(Army wing). The college has various clubs and associations to satisfy the co-curricular needs of the students.
